Building Community: In the Fall of 2006, Las Cumbres Community Services embarked upon the largest, most ambitious, and possibly the most important initiative in our 38-year history. We launched our first ever Capital Campaign to build a new, larger facility to house all our agency programs and administrative offices. Over the years, Las Cumbres has strived to expand its programs to meet the growing and changing needs of the diverse communities we serve. Last year alone, agency programs touched the lives of more than 8,500 children, adults and families, more than ever since the agency first opened its doors. This is phenomenal growth, with plans for more to come. Our current aging facility can no longer accommodate our clients and staff. In order to continue providing high quality services to thousands of vulnerable individuals whose lives are significantly improved through our programs, we must build a new home.
The new Community Campus in Española will serve as a central hub for all Las Cumbres services. The state-of-the art facility will also offer training facilities and meeting rooms for community-wide use in this critically underserved region. Our target budget to build an environmentally green facility that will meet LEED Silver specifications is $5.29 million. We have already raised more than $1.5 million through state and federal funds, and have just purchased three acres of land as part of an expansion plan at Northern New Mexico College, our fiscal partner in this effort.
Please support Las Cumbres’ Capital Campaign to plan and build a new Community Campus. The success of this initiative will help ensure that the agency can continue to provide the quality and range of services that New Mexico’s children, adults, and families need to have a brighter, healthier future.
