Our mission is to provide quality services, public awareness, and integrated community supports for children, adults, and families facing social, emotional, and/or developmental challenges.
EARLY INTERVENTION

The Early Intervention Program (also known as Family Infant Toddler, or FIT) provides therapeutic and developmental services and supports to families and their children ages birth to three who have or are at risk for developmental delays and/or disabilities.  Integrated services support parents and other caregivers in meeting the developmental needs of their children as early as possible.

Specific services, supports and strategies are provided to promote development in one or more of the following modalities: cognitive, fine and gross motor, speech and language, social and emotional, and adaptive behavior.  Services include:

  • evaluation and assessment
  • assistive technology
  • audiology
  • developmental consultation
  • family education
  • counseling
  • home visits
  • health services
  • medical services
  • nursing
  • nutrition
  • occupational therapy
  • speech and language pathology
  • vision services
  • physical therapy
  • developmental specialist
  • mental health professionals
  • transportation
  • A Community Resource Center, containing materials on child development and parenting topics, and comprehensive family supports are available in conjunction with all Early Childhood services.

Early intervention services include ongoing family support to develop each family’s ability to meet their child’s developmental needs.  The goal is to assure that each child’s parents, family and providers know how to care for and enhance the child’s physical, cognitive, social and emotional development.

The program staff conducts outreach activities, including at least six Child Finds and Public Awareness activities each year, to identify children with or at risk for delays and provide them access to services as early as possible.  Research has shown repeatedly that the earlier the age at which intervention occurs, the higher the probability of its efficacy and lasting impact.

Las Cumbres is dedicated to providing early intervention services that support parents in achieving desired outcomes for their family and child, and that can be incorporated into the family’s everyday routines, activities and environments.
