While we were sad to see Clara Smith, former Human Resource (HR) Manager retire from the agency, we welcome Erica Garcia as new Human Resource Manager. Erica has been a member of the Las Cumbres family for eight years, serving as an integral member of the HR Department and Management Team, beginning as an HR assistant and then later promoted to HR Generalist to fullfill a wider array of duties. Prior to coming to Las Cumbres, Erica worked in marketing and development for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts where she managed and coordinated volunteers, logistics for special events, produced various publications, and worked with local media. Erica expressed that her life passions include "helping others get through situations she may understand more thoroughly", which will richly inform her role as Las Cumbres' HR Manager. When asked what she learned from her predessessor, Erica stated that Clara taught her the importance of eliminating barriers to help employees succeed in their roles and to find ways to contribute even more to the organization, expressing that she understands that "generosity can go far for one's motivation".
About her promotion, Erica went on to say "I feel entrusted and that others are invested in me and interested in my future. I feel just as welcomed as I did when I walked through Las Cumbres' doors eight years ago!" Erica was born in Santa Fe and raised in Nambe Pueblo. About Erica, agency COO, Megan Delano said "Erica is an incredibly dedicated and passionate HR professional who cares deeply about each of Las Cumbres' wonderful staff and programs."
