This event has been rescheduled due to last month's cancellation as a result of unanticipated weather. Please join the staff of Las Cumbres for a family event in the parking lot of its Hunter Street offices in Española. The event, in support of Child Abuse Prevention, will include food, music, and activities for children and families. The event will take place on Friday, May 25th from 11am to 3pm at 404 Hunter Street.

Additional sponors present for the day's festivities will include the Santa Fe Mountain Center, Southwest Family Guidance Center and Institute, Brave Voices for Children, CYFD, and Rio Arriba County. The New Mexico National Guard will have their famous climbing wall available!

Annie. E. Casey KIDS Count Data and New Mexico Voices for Children reveal that 7,544 children were confirmed by the State's Child Protective Services department to be victims of maltreatment in 2014. This represents 15 in every 1,000 children. Of these children, 82.4% were neglected, 13.4% were physically abused, and 3.3% were sexually abused. In Rio Arriba, the rate is even higher with 21 confirmed children abused in every 1,000.
