I worked various jobs throughout my AA: at a shoe store, in a small local book store, landscaping, and for a private consultant whose focus is on environmental mediation. I went back to school when my first born was 6 months old, so during my BSW and MSW, I was at home caring for small children and completing internship hours for my degree. One internship was with Primos Pasos, a small home visiting program that focused on supporting families with young children 0-3 yrs old. This is where I fell in love with preventive-based work and wanted to build on my skills supporting families. I sought out an internship with LCCS-Community Infant Program providing clinical support to young children and their families 0-6 yrs old. I was then hired into the program after I completed my internship requirements.
Advice to younger self
Keep working at it. It may take longer or not be the road you expected, but you will get there.
