News Update – Las Cumbres’ Support for Food Security & Community Well-Being

Families in Northern New Mexico are facing increased pressure on household food supplies. Recent statewide reporting highlights how food banks and pantries across the region are seeing higher demand (link). At the same time, state leaders have launched an emergency food-aid effort to help fill critical gaps as federal food-assistance programs remain uncertain (link).

At Las Cumbres Community Services, we are closely monitoring these developments and working to ensure that our clients, including older adults, immigrant and refugee families, and community members in Day Services, can access the support they need. We want you to know:

  • Where to find food: Use the Roadrunner Food Bank’s Food Finder tool to locate food pantries and distribution sites near you.

  • Help connecting to food assistance: Our team is available to help you find food resources, understand your options, and access programs as statewide supports shift.

  • Continued partnership: We are working with key community organizations to help you navigate food security, wellness check-ins, and other essential services.

If you or someone you know needs assistance with food access or would like any help finding a pantry, signing up for benefits, or learning about supportive services, there are many resources available, and they are expanding daily.

  • For additional listings of food pantries and restaurants providing free food for children during the government shutdown, visit this link and this link
