Vaccinating Clients and Staff a Priority at Las Cumbres

In November, Liane Pellegrini hit the ground running as the agency’s new Registered Nurse overseeing the health and care for clients living in Peach House, Las Cumbres’ Supported Living Home in Los Alamos. Laine was instrumental in the coordination of vaccines for all of the Adult Services Program clients starting in December. Close to one hundred percent of Las Cumbres’ Adults Service staff are on their way to becoming vaccinated. As of mid-February, of this year, in our Supported Living Program, the Peach House residents, and direct staff are fully vaccinated through a partnership with CVS Pharmacy. “Keeping our Peach House residents safe has been one of the highest priorities during the pandemic by implementing COVID safe practices,” said Adult Services Director, Nanette Martinez “Having Liane join the team to help facilitate the vaccine distribution has been such a blessing. Thanks to safe practices by staff and clients, guided by DDSD, our Peach House residents have remained safe from outbreaks during the pandemic.”

Along with efforts for Peach House residents, in partnership with Walgreens, the Adult Services Department also organized and held a COVID vaccine event for the majority of all Adult Services staff and over 40 Adult Services clients to receive their first dose of the vaccine. “While this is a layer of protection for our clients in the Adult Services Program, there still need to be precautions in place to ensure the health and safety of our staff and clients,” said Liane. Although Day Services have yet to resume in-person service, the plan is to create a safe environment when the opportunity to welcome back clients returns. “We are keeping an eye on case counts and recommendations from the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division to formulate a timetable when it is safe to welcome clients back to Day Services, Customized In-Home Supports, and more,” said Director Martinez.

Of all of the Las Cumbres programs, Adult Services has been affected most due to the pandemic. If you are able to support please do so.
